Boat Is Ready
It is almost that time of year to get the boat ready for the April 1st launch. I can not wait to start fishing again. Last season we had some excellent cod and haddock trips that start in April.
The haddock have returned to this area in great numbers. Up until a couple of years ago haddock were almost non existent, now the average trip is about half cod half haddock. On most of these trips we catch the legal limit of fish which is ten keeper cod per angler and no possession limit on haddock.
When bottom fishing, you never know what is going to tug at the end of you’re line, there is a huge variety of fish that can be caught while drifting bait on these offshore trips. The striped bass fishing was fantastic from early June until late October, with the limit of two keeper stripers per angler caught on about 80-90% of all trips. We averaged about 30 stripers per trip with some days too many to keep track of. The school blue fin have been increasing in numbers every year and are thrilling to catch, however the giant tuna (over 73") are getting to be a rare catch in this area.
The shark trips are an experience you will never forget, it is not uncommon to have several sharks at a time swimming around the boat. Most of the sharks are blue sharks but on occasion we get mako, thresher and porbeagles in the chum slick. The sharks are anywhere from 5-12 feet in length and take anywhere from five minutes to several hours to land depending on the tackle used and the type of shark that is hooked.
Book a trip soon to get a good date, and we will do our best to give you a trip to remember for a lifetime.
