6-9-06 striped bass fishing
We had Ed Rondeau and his group from western mass today.Left plymouth harbor at 6a.m in light rain and fog.Went to wood end and the fish were everywhere. We started trolling with the 9er rigs in about 150 feet of water, before I could get the first line set it got hit on the way out.I told the crew to be selective about what they kept, but it is hard when the fish are averageing 36 inches.Within a half an hour they had their limit of two bass each, all the fish were 36 inches or bigger. They were very discouraged when the fish we released the rest of the day were bigger than what they had allready put in the cooler. We must have caught about 150 fish with a 20 pound average. This was one of the best trips ever for huge numbers of big striped bass. The big bass are in now and should stick around for a while.
